Field Applications Scientist (West Coast, US)

We are looking for a Field Applications Scientist, to be based in the San Francisco Bay Area, for training and supporting our customers in North America. The successful applicant will provide complex applications support, troubleshooting and diagnosis on specialized DVS Sciences CyTOF® Mass Cytometry systems in life science research settings. The Field Applications Scientist will be responsible to provide operator training on CyTOF® instruments and teach customers how to develop assays using CyTOF®. This position also has a pre-sales function and works closely as a partner with the sales team. He/She will also formulate changes in development, maintenance and system standards.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive technical training and support for CyTOF® technology, including hands-on wet lab and software training
  • Provide ongoing support and troubleshooting for customers in person, and via phone, email, and web
  • Provide pre and post-sales technical and scientific presentations, to small groups and large audiences, on the use of CyTOF® technology in life science research
  • Carry out laboratory projects that include demonstrations, feasibility studies, new product evaluation/testing, and contract research services
  • Create and maintain support information in the company enterprise database
  • Develop and implement training plans and courses for internal and external customers
  • Participate in new product development projects as a representative of the commercial and technical support teams
  • Assist in the creation and review of technical materials (manuals, application notes, presentations).
  • Follow standard practices and procedures analyzing situations or data
  • Monitors policies procedures and standards related to technical training Communicates project status, issues to management, users and staff

Minimum Requirements

  • M.S. degree in life science discipline required. Ph.D. and strong immunology background a plus.
  • 3-5 to years of hands-on experience in biochemistry or molecular biology laboratory is required.
  • Ability to trouble shoot software, instrumentation and applications relating to Flow Cytometry
  • Experience in Flow Cytometry data analysis and interpretation; higher-level bioinformatics skills are highly desirable
  • Strong communication skills and experience giving scientific presentations
  • Previous experience in a field application position is desirable

Travel

Approximately 50%, with some potential international travel
