Job Summary

As a member of a multi-disciplinary team, the Production Technician participates in assembly and testing of the CyTOF - a novel analytical instrument for simultaneous detection of multiple proteins in single biological cells.

Summary of Essential Job Functions

Under supervision of production engineers and production manager, the production technician will perform complete hands-on assembly of electric and mechanical modules, integration, operation and testing of complicated analytical production instruments. Thoroughness, attention to detail and meticulousness of assembly and testing are critical, as well as a strict following the assembly and testing protocols and Standard Operating Procedures. Production Technician will participate in improvement and preparation of documentation and in training of junior production personnel.

Minimum Requirements

More than 10 years experience in hands-on assembly of complicated electrical and mechanical assemblies, including cables, electrical power distribution modules, vacuum systems, delicate ion-optical modules.

Abilities Required

Proven ability to do high quality soldering. Ability to read and comprehend complicated mechanical drawings and perform measurement and verification of parts compliance to drawings. Ability to teach junior staff and to transfer experience through informal presentations and on-the-job training. Troubleshooting and analytical skills. Strong learning and communication skills. Ability to switch focus between different tasks and eagerness to perform variety of duties in a small business environment is required. Occasional heavy lifting (up to 50 Lb) during assembly operations may be required.
